Study of Gases and Thermal Behavior of Oxidized Coal during Spontaneous Combustion Process

Coal spontaneous combustion is one of the most severe and constant hazards in coal industry. Understanding mechanisms basis for effective hazard control coal-producing process. This paper investigated two types oxidized samples from re-mining faces an underground mine. Proximate analysis, elemental surface temperature-programmed experiments, differential scanning calorimetry analysis were conducted to study characteristics. Various reaction mechanism functions adopted calculate kinetic parameters, multiple linear regression was performed simulate behavior. The results show that thermal decomposition followed a two-stage model. first stage occupied smaller apparent activation energy promoted second reaction, dominating heat production. Therefore, significant prevention measures should be emphasized appropriately break continuous reaction. findings this can serve as reference predicting preventing oxidated coal.
